Houseplants
2021
In this spatial installation of ten typical green plants, the medium of light interlocks the vault of the Kunsthaus with just as many time zones around the earth. The brightness of each plant light corresponds to the current solar altitude at the place of origin of each plant.
While it is already afternoon in Germany, the sun is just rising on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia (South Pacific). From this moment on, the plant light illuminating the golden pothos, also brightens up - this minimal-kinetic and barely perceptible process lasts for about an hour.
Time and change are reflected in the Houseplants installation, however, not only in the medium of light, but also in the slow growth of the houseplants during their three-month exhibition period.
